Canti di gioia op. 64 è un “Allegretto mosso” in la maggiore in 2/4 con coda finale “Allegro”, il tipico “Stretto” che chiude le cabalette operistiche ottocentesche. Il brano non segue la consueta struttura sonatistica ma, come capita sempre nei “pezzi romantici” dell’epoca, ha una struttura più libera riconducibile a quella liederistica A B A’ Coda.

Songs of joy op. 64 is an “Allegretto mosso” in A major in 2/4 with a final coda “Allegro”, the typical “Stretto” that closes the nineteenth-century operatic cabalettas. The piece does not follow the usual sonatistic structure but, as always happens in the “romantic pieces” of the time, it has a freer structure attributable to the liederistic A B A’ Coda.
