Arnaldo Daniello, Arnaut, poeta in lingua d’oc, ammirato da Dante e dal Petrarca, creò la Sestina, una complicata forma poetica dove le sei parole-rima di ogni strofa vengono sistematicamente permutate. Mi è venuta l’idea di trasportare questa tecnica alla musica, ovviamente senza ambizione di competere con quel Grande.
Arnaut Daniel, Occitan poet admired by Dante and Petrarca, invented the Sestina: a rather sophisticated type of composition, where the six rhyme words of each stanza are permutated. I have been always curious about literary games, so I decided - no ambition or competition! - to translate this form in music.
