Pietro Tonassi (Venezia, 14. 09. 1800 – ivi, 04. 11. 1877) è stato un distinto compositore e violoncellista italiano. Iniziò gli studi musicali sotto la guida del padre e successivamente con il maestro Cammerra tuttavia, per le innate grandi qualità musicali può ritenersi un autodidatta. Esordì giovanissimo e dal 1826 occupò il posto di primo violoncello presso il Teatro La Fenice di Venezia divenendone anche per vari anni maestro concertatore al violino.
Pietro Tonassi (Venice, 09.14.1800 – 11.04.1877) was a distinguished Italian composer and cellist. He began his musical studies under the guidance of his father and later with maestro Cammerra, however, due to his innate great musical qualities, he can be considered self-taught. He made his debut very young and from 1826 he occupied the position of solo cellist at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, also becoming its concertmaster on the violin for several years.
